Yesterday before going to bed I tweeted that I am going to bed with sinking heart, yes yesterday the media revealed more and more pathetic conditions of the CWG games village. I woke today and the first think I prayed to Almighty for no more mishaps and no more collapse. I don't know why we consider this CWG as a pride of nation.
Any how today when I watched the news I could see a stray of hope , some promising news are coming from here and there despite several atheletes pull off. I learned from media that now the Delhi Govt is the boss of the game and the "icon of national shame" Suresh Kalmadi is no more in the picture. Any how if things are turning towards a right direction then that is a sigh of relief. Well some thing we have to figure out or learn from all these mess, what is that made us to run into such a scenario and how can we further avoid?
I think there is a fundamental mistake within us, hope you will remember that we have done our homework properly in school fearing cane lashes from our class teacher. We take the breakfast in the morning fearing mom's bashes. We struggle to pass our exams fearing our parents. Our sytem made us to do things and go forward if only someone is there to drive us. Our education system itself groom u sin such a way.Is that what happened with our CWG organizers , when the world humiliated and bashed us then we suddenly threw away our ususal blame gmae and started making thing correct. Does this means we are not capapble of taking challenges and responsibilities. What was visible througout this shameful drama that nobody was willing to shoulder responsilbilty and no one was willing to accomplish or finalize a task. We were able to see blame games all over. I even felt that I am seeing a kindergarden kids fighting each other wearing dhotis and beards. How immature we are. Whatever it is, all this send a mixed sinal to the world about Indians and this is going to have an impact in various other fileds of developement also.
The world media including our own Indian media are showing the pictures of pan stained bathrooms and corridors repeateldy. I remember an incident hiring few labors for a project for a posch client. I saw one of the worker saying to other one " Yar we will never have in our life a chance to use these type of furniture so let us sit for while in that couch and relax". I didn't stopped them at the time but the repeated pctures seen in the media reminds me of that incident . Those were the frustration of the underpaid labourers who were brought in to do the job. Definitely many of these fiascos could have been avoided if the project were handled by professionals in each and every field.
Definitely then there comes a question , so these works were not awarded to the professional people?. I would site another incident as an answer to the above question.
The game Anthem was composed by Indian Mozart A.R Rahman and did not brought any sensation and even drew wide criticism, eventually Rahman tweaked the song and now it was admired by everybody. Do we say that this is a flaw from Rahman, I will say definitely no. Then what, look, I heard both versions of the song and both were fantastic. The traditional way of relaesing an album is to release along with video which was over looked in the first release and now the tweaked version is relaesed along with the video. When ' Bhala' the one who produced this video was asked why it was not released with the previous release he conviniently avoided that question for not to embarass the CWG anymore. Besides who are these ministers and politicians to judge the quality of the song, what knowledge they have about music.
I am so sad that when many of us compare this song with 'Waka Waka". You can see the rich video and amazing dancing sequence of Waka Waka , unfortunately our poor Rahman is not so sexy as Shakira to do all those moves. Let us forget the face and killer hip of Shakira and enjoy "Bulao Ye India".
Finally I just saw in the TV that Mr.Fennel who is in India to assess the Games village condition was taken a guided tour by Suresh Kalmadi, again we are doing mistakes.
I am frustrated to see the 'chaltha hai' attitude of our public, for God's sake wake up, this huge amount spent on this games is your money . Dear fellow Indians please note that each and every paisa spend in this country by the Gvernment is your money and not someone elses so wake up and express your concern in a peaceful way. Stay tuned to watch the world's most expensive hot air balloon , 87 crore Rupees.
